Gamma & Density’s 3cP version 3.0 brings all the power of 3cP’s proven on-set color control system to a system specially tailored for the digital acquisition world.
3cP 3.0 is not just an on-set monitoring system, nor just a color corrector. 3cP is designed specifically for use on the set and at the end of the shooting day to precisely preview and communicate the color decisions of the cinematographer to the colorist and others, whether they be producing dailies, doing pre-post, matching special effects, or doing the final color grade for DI.
No specialized equipment is required on the set; a standard laptop computer with a connection to the camera is all that is needed.
No special equipment is needed in the color grading suite. 3cP’s support for standard LUT formats allows it to work with most common color grading systems, including DaVinci, Pogle, Lustre, Color Finesse, and Color. And 3cP’s proprietary color reports allow color adjustment data to be communicated to any system at all, in a clear, precise, easy-to-understand format.
Color adjustments can be made using traditional film-style tools (“printer lights”), video-style gamma/gain/lift, or freeform RGB curves. Adjustments are monitored with built-in waveform monitors, vectorscope, and histogram displays.
Live camera feeds can be monitored on the computer screen. A point-sampling spot meter function lets you determine exact exposure at any point in the image, and continue monitoring as you adjust lighting and camera settings. You can also invert the camera image to compensate for inverting lens adaptors, and can overlay safe action/title area and adjustable framing lines.
3cP 3.0 is available in three flavors: 3cP/Film is for traditional film-based projects. 3cP/Digital is for digital acquisition projects where you’ll be connecting to the camera via an SD/HD-SDI cable. And 3cP/Indie is for camera using FireWire connections.
With a track record of 17 major feature films and TV series (including The Tudors and Babel), 3cP has proven itself as a reliable tool which facilitates precise communications between the DP and colorist, and saves both time and money in post-production. Using 3cP you know that the color you’re seeing on the set is the color you’ll see on the screen.
